Linlithgow Palace

One of my favorite things to do while abroad is visit castles. Visit anything old really - churches, prehistoric stonework, houses- you name it.  But of course there is something very fantastical about seeing a castle (especiallyyyy a ruin).  So Mirjam and I visited Linlithgow Palace, which is just outside Edinburgh.  I cannot recommend it enough. Amazing.  Wish I could have moved in!! It is the castle that Mary Queen of Scots was born in way back in 1542.  You can even see the queens bed chamber where she was most likely born.  There are even secret passages.  It was something out of a fairy tale!

This is the oldest working fountain in the UK. And the king used to make it flow with red wine!

The fireplace in the banquet hall!

Edinburgh Festival

Sorry I kind of just disappeared! I spent the last week in Edinburgh with one of my very best friends Mirjam who lives in Amsterdam.  We try to get together once a year, and this year we decided on Edinburgh for the festival.  We had a blast seeing a bunch of shows - sticking mainly to the free ones!  I was sad to leave her but know I will see her again before a year is up!

My girl
