Linlithgow Palace

One of my favorite things to do while abroad is visit castles. Visit anything old really - churches, prehistoric stonework, houses- you name it.  But of course there is something very fantastical about seeing a castle (especiallyyyy a ruin).  So Mirjam and I visited Linlithgow Palace, which is just outside Edinburgh.  I cannot recommend it enough. Amazing.  Wish I could have moved in!! It is the castle that Mary Queen of Scots was born in way back in 1542.  You can even see the queens bed chamber where she was most likely born.  There are even secret passages.  It was something out of a fairy tale!

This is the oldest working fountain in the UK. And the king used to make it flow with red wine!

The fireplace in the banquet hall!
